The scientific name for the Giant Panda is Ailuropoda melanoleuca and that literally means "cat foot black and white"

In Chinese, the Panda is called ‘Da Xiong Mao’ 大熊貓, which translates to ‘giant bear cat’. This is because unlike other bears which have eyes with round pupils, the Panda’s eyes have cat-like vertical slits as pupils.
